The Red Parka Challenge Cup Race is celebrating its 40th anniversary in March! As you may know, for the last 17 of those 40 years, the proceeds from the Red Parka Challenge Cup Race have been donated to the Eastern Slopes Ski Club’s Junior Ski Program in honor of Judge William Paine who was a great supporter of ESSC. In addition, the Challenge Cup has also sponsored a race for middle school students for the past 19 years. More than $100,000 has been donated to these programs, making our race the key to helping children in our Valley learn to ski.
The Red Parka Challenge Cup Race is the only pro-style, amateur dual slalom race in the East. It may well be the oldest ski race of its kind in the country (possibly the world). We are hoping with your help and other sponsors, this years’ 40th anniversary race will attract more intermediate racers as well as the experts. We have exciting plans to build the interest in racing this year!
Your financial commitment to this event will enable us keep this race going and to reach our goal of $10,000 per year to the ESSC. We appreciate your continued support to keep our community’s kids skiing!
